My Final Project

For the last project I did, I chose to review a game and I wanted to change it up. So for my last project, I decided to make a ski edit of almost every clip I got this season. I have got a couple of edits in the past and I enjoyed making it a lot. I spent about a week and a half finding and sorting the clips and how I wanted them to be and then I spent a couple of days trying to find a song. Now, the only thing to do was put everything together it took me about two days to get it fully edited and the way I wanted it.

How I learned to edit was with my friend Caleb, he has made many high-quality edits and I was inspired. I asked him if he could give me some pointers on how to edit.

The weeks after that I worked on timing the songs to the edits and this past ski season I made a couple of edits and I was very proud of them. I’ve spent sometime with my friends making group edits and little videos.

Probably the easiest to learn is https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve, once you get the basics down its pretty simple.

Blog 6

When I started this quarter, I wanted to do something with 3D design, but I decided to switch to laser shows. The program that I am using is called Beyond. I am struggling a little bit with learning the program. I spent a week watching videos and trying to find a song that I wanted to make a show to.

I found a song in one of my favorite ski edits. I started by downloading the song and then converted it to an MP3 and inserted it into the project. I didn’t fully know what I wanted to be in the show and still don’t. I got far one day, and I was happy with the progress, but I forgot to save it that day, so I had to restart completely. I was a little discouraged, but I’m excited to see what I can do with the song. I am hoping to have the show complete by the end of the quarter.

Exam – Planter Project

I was inspired to make a planter. I have a lot of space on my desk and dresser in my room. I’ve wanted to buy some plants and planters to put them around my room. I chose to use TinkerCad because I am the most familiar with the program.

OmNomNomagon

I wanted to change the design a bit. I made it with flatter sides and cutouts to make it look more abstract, and I wanted to make it look random. My room is very abstract and splattered together. I think the planter pot could be the perfect addition to my room.

This is what the side should be looking like. I found a shape I wanted to work with. I started by taking chunks out of the body to make line cutouts.

This was like my prototype of what I wanted it to look like. It has cutouts and is almost the shape that I want. It still needed a place for the plant to go in.

This was my final product. It is not fulling how I want it to be, and I would like to continue working on it! It has the shape I want but not quite what I was going for. It shows so many of the abstract elements but all of them. I would change to a different shape or make one in Fusion 360. I do not think TinkerCad can create the profile I am desiring. I am excited to try out Fusion 360 next semester!

Snowflake Project

The first snowfall of the year is always exciting. I love to ski, so I love snow. Snowflakes have always intrigued me, and this year it was no different. The geometric pattern of snowflakes is special with each snowflake being unique.

When I learned that we had to make an ornament, I thought making a snowflake would be a great project. Even though snowflakes naturally have 6 sides, I chose to make an 8-sided “snowflake” because it was a more intricate design.

I created one extension. Then I copied, rotated it 450, pasted, and repeated until I had four extensions connected or half the snowflake. Then I mirrored this image over a plane to create the second half of the 8-sided snowflake. The 8-sided snowflake is complete. Then I added closed circles to the overlapping pieces for more stability in the structure. Lastly, I added an open circle as the ornament hanger.

Introduction

Hello, My name is Jack I am in Science for Inventors Fith hour at Marquette Senior High School. I really love skiing and after high school, I hope to pursue that dream of being a professional skier. I love being outside and experiencing nature.

I took SFI because I love expressing my creativity in different ways. I’m excited to learn more about 3D design. I think some of my strengths are being resourceful, I enjoy challenges, and learning new things. My main focus so far in this class has been 3D printing. I’ve printed a couple of things now and some of the most difficult things are trying to make a design that doesn’t need to have supports.
